When we are young, our faces are fresh, full, smooth and soft. The body naturally produces larger amounts of hyaluronic acid, which bond moisture, fill out cells below the skin with water and preserve the elasticity of our skin. Subcutaneous tissue, especially when it builds up on the cheeks or on the chin, acts as an additional cushion and provides the face with its youthful volume and appearance. Our production of hyaluronic acid tends to diminish as the years roll by, meaning that its ability to deliver moisture and volume also declines. This leads to the loss of subcutaneous fatty tissue and residual cushions of fat then relocate in response to gravitational forces. As a consequence, on many people, the soft areas of their cheeks start to droop, creating jowls and nasolabial wrinkles. The underlid region and the area around the jawbone can then start to look fatigued and sunken.
Liquid Lift describes a treatment technique which restores that former youthful volume to the face through the application of hyaluronic acids. In contrast to conventional wrinkle treatments, which simply involve filling areas of lined or wrinkled skin with a substance, Liquid Lift subcutaneously feeds large areas and parts of the face with hyaluronic acids, restoring a harmonious look to the face and rejuvenating the complexion holistically.
Liquid Lift improves the texture of the skin, tautening and effectively smoothing out lines and wrinkles, and it is that gain in volume that restores the youthful complexion to a person's face.
Liquid Lift has some key benefits over the surgical facelift: not just the gentle, minimally-invasive nature of this intervention but also the sheer "naturalness" of the finished result. That is accomplished because, unlike the surgical facelift, where the skin is "only" tautened, taking no account of the anatomy and fullness of that same face at a younger age, Liquid Lift actually restores the youthful, fresh facial complexion of that individual.
The hyaluronic acids used by Dr. Sturm are readily compatible with human tissue, they are manufactured biosynthetically and they contain no constituent elements derived from animals. Their composition is broadly similar to the body's own, differing only in that they are more resilient and take longer for the body to break down. This is of course an advantage, since the outcome of this treatment then lasts for much longer. The risk of allergenic or hypersensitive reactions is minimal.
The Liquid Lift technique can be applied with small volumes of substances such as Perlane or Juvederm, enabling it to achieve a subtle lifting effect. Frown lines disappear, the face is reshaped gently and slightly tired looking eyes are "woken up" and their natural vigour is restored. Hyaluronic acids also act on sunken temples, on a drooping chin or on a blurred jawline definition. The higher the viscosity of the hyaluronic acid employed, the more powerful and longer lasting the lifting effect. The target group for Liquid Lift includes those for whom mesotherapy is no longer sufficient, but for whom extensive sculpting would be premature. In cases of high facial volume loss and facial shadowing, it is appropriate to opt for high-volume replenishment techniques, involving the use of more powerful hyaluronic acids. This substance is used in the Liquid Lift process as well as for volume replenishment. It involves injecting the skin with a specialist high-tech cannula known as the pix'L needle, renowned for its gentle impact on skin tissue and the lack of pain associated with its use. Haematomas only occur on a very small number of clients. The process takes about two hours and only causes slight discomfort - meaning that no anaesthetic is required. The outcome of the treatment continues to improve during the initial weeks following the treatment because the injected hyaluronic acid bonds with even more water, thereby further improving the supply of refreshing moisture to the skin, tautening and enhancing its tone. These benefits can be further enhanced by following this treatment with a course of mesotherapy.
